Autograph letter signed : Paris, to Adriano Lualdi, 1934 June 24.

Milhaud tells the Italian composer and conductor Lualdi that he is very much looking forward to going to Venice on 13th September for the performance of his Concerto for piano and orchestra, and that he agrees to the sum of two thousand lira plus expenses. He asks Lualdi to let him know if he agrees with this.

Milhaud was born in Aix-en-Provence on September 4, 1892. As a child he improvised melodies at the piano and soon took up the violin. He entered the Paris Conservatoire in 1909, studying the violin with Berthelier, ensemble with Lefèvre, harmony with Leroux, counterpoint with André Gédalge, composition and fugue with Charles-Marie Widor, and conducting with Vincent d'Indy.
