Dr. Lucius Merrill was born in 1857 in Orono. He attended the University of Maine and graduated in the class of 1883. From 1885-1887, he worked as assistant curator, Department of Lithology and Physical Geography at the U.S. National Museum. He joined the UMaine Experiment Station in 1887 as an analytical chemist. He was an analytical chemist until 1896 but was associated with the Experiment Station until 1930. In 1888, Lucius Merrill was appointed instructor of Biological Chemistry...
