Leonard Larsen was born in Buffalo, New York, on February 15, 1922. Larsen and Helen Brader were married prior to his enlistment in the United States Army on October 29, 1942. Soon after enlistment, Larsen was assigned to Company C, 425th Ambulance Motor Battalion, which was later changed to Company C, 563rd Ambulance Motor Battalion.
