Carl J. Heinrich was born on 23 December 1889 in Southington, Connecticut. He attended schools both in Connecticut and Wisconsin. Heinrich married Ruth Hurd in Chicago on 4 September 1913. They had four children, George, John, Ruth, and Carleen. The Heinrich family moved to Roundup, Montana, where they operated the Heinrich Furniture Company from 1924 to 1931.
