William Crippen Brown collection, 1913, 2012.

Collection includes loose photographs (3), loose postcards (2), loose black scrapbook pages with both photographs and postcards, mostly black and white (14 p.), 1913-1915. These are mostly images of people and buildings at Central Michigan University (CMU), then the Normal School, taken by Brown while he attended CMU. Also included is illustrated biography of Brown by Bagnall (6 p.), 2012.

Brown (1887-1973) was born and raised on a farm in Jeddo, Sanilac County, Mich. After 8th grade, Will attended Ferris Institute, now Ferris State University, to take take his teacher's exam and began a long career as a teacher. In 1911 he purchased a camera and then photographed CMU students, clubs, teams, and buildings, while there which he sold as postcards.
