Agassiz House was given to Radcliffe in 1903 by alumnae and friends in honor of the 80th birthday of President Agassiz, who had long wished to establish a student building at the college. The building, designed by James Hart, John Perkins, and Noah Porter, was completed in 1904. Agassiz House has an Ionic portico, which was built by A.W.
