Agassiz House (Cambridge, Mass.)

Hide Profile

Agassiz House was given to Radcliffe in 1903 by alumnae and friends in honor of the 80th birthday of President Agassiz, who had long wished to establish a student building at the college. The building, designed by James Hart, John Perkins, and Noah Porter, was completed in 1904. Agassiz House has an Ionic portico, which was built by A.W. Longfellow and now forms the focal point of the Radcliffe Quadrangle. The Agassiz Theatre is located in Agassiz House, as are a number of organizations and offices, including Education for Action (E4A) and the student-run Women's Center.
