Correspondence (1819-1834) of Abraham Ashley and Hannah Crapo Ashley received from friends and relatives; letter (1822) from their son Noah Ashley to his father, describing his marriage and business affairs at Vincennes, Ind.; letters to Hannah Ashley from relatives and friends describing their communities and family news; letters (1819-1821) from friends received from one of their daughters, Betsy Ashley Edminster (1788-1856), prior to her marriage; papers (1854-1914) of Hudson Winslow (1826-1916), a whaling master, of New Bedford, Mass., includes a marriage certificate, membership certificates to masonic lodges, and newspaper clippings relating to his whaling activities; his cousin, Betsy Baldwin Winslow (1830-1925), is represented by newspaper clippings (1909-1912) regarding her career as a school teacher and member of the New Bedford school committee; papers of James Whittaker (1867-1940) include certificates relating to his citizenship and voter registration (1905, 1925); and papers of his daughter, Mildred R. Whittaker Sargent (1897-1985) consist of a voter registration certificate (1925).
