Autograph letter signed from Charles Dickens, Higham, to George Dolby [manuscript], 1869 August 7.

Dickens indicates that he does not agree with Charles Albert Fechter's suspicious view of a letter from Edwin Booth, including the advice "Unless a Telegram arrives from America, as Booth promises, I would not answer the letter at all. By perpetually insisting on this, and that, and the other, Fechter will get the dangerous reputation there, of being a man unusually difficult to deal with - and they won't deal with him." Also mentions Niblo's Theatre and the managers Henry David Palmer and Henry Clay Jarrett.
