Maybee was a history professor at CMU. The Clarke Historical Library has several of his publications and his papers. S. John Archer is a great-great grandson of Ezekiel Archer (1807-1890) who emigrated from Ireland to Canada in 1847. With his wife Ezekiel had five children: Jonah, William, Joseph, Ezekiel, Jr., and Margaret. Between 1860 and 1871 at least some members of the family moved back and forth between Canada and Michigan, possibly to avoid fighting in the Civil War.
