Lloyd Valentine Winter (1866-1945) and Edwin Percy Pond (1872-1943), of the firm Winter & Pond Co., were prominent Alaskan photographers. In 1893, Winter came to Juneau from San Francisco and entered a partnership with George M. Landerkin, known as Landerkin and Winter. In 1894, his long time friend E.P. Pond bought out Landerkin. John Martin Blankenberg was born in Tragdor, Norway, October 24, 1860. He came to Alaska during the Klondike Gold Rush and worked as a photographer in Dawson, Haines, and possibly other locations. Little is known of his personal life. He was married at one time and spent the latter part of his life in Tenakee, Alaska, which is where he died August 19, 1939. Percy Jasper Wetherbee was born to Guy Victor and Buena Minto Wetherbee in Grants Pass, Oregon on Aug. 4, 1921. Buena's half-brother, Frank Minto, participated in the 1898 Alaska gold rush.
