The donor, Desleigh White, is the daughter of Mrs Isabell McLean Hines (nee Larkin), the original owner of the items. Mrs Hines was born in 1914 and married Henry James Hines in 1943. She opened and owned 'Bell Hines Bookstore and Library' in the early 1940s. The shop was part of the Sharp and Musgrave Building on the corner of Queen Street and Creek Street (327 Queen Street).
