George Emory Fellows, Department of History at Univ. of Utah, and George Thomas, president of Univ. of Utah, complain to Walter Dill Scott, president of Northwestern University, about an article De Voto (English Department, Northwestern Univ.) had written in the March, 1926, issue of the American Mercury that included a statement that the Univ. of Utah "is made up of Mormon bishops, tank town annotators and hicks." Responses follow from President Scott and De Voto. Collection includes the donor's letter, 1974, to Wallace Stegner.
