Newsclips: Whaling and Stories from the Sea, 1903-1937.

Collection includes two scrapbooks of newspaper clippings. Volume I, "Spun Yarns of an Old Salt" includes a variety of clippings which tell stories of the sea from many different perspectives. Most of these articles were taken from the Salem Evening News and/or the Boston Evening Record. An Index is included with Volume I. Volume II, includes a serialization of "Chasing the Bowhead Whale," which narrates the "Life Experiences, Observatons, and Adventures of Captain H. H. Bodfish, a whaleman, originally from Vineyard Haven, Massachusetts. These articles were printed in the Vineyard Gazette on Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts. Several articles on mutiny are also included in this volume.
