Herbert H. Carey papers on personnel management, 1924-1990 (inclusive).

These personnel management publications, articles, speeches, forms, policies, surveys, and other records, circa 1924 to 1961, were collected by Herbert H. Carey during the course of his career. The earliest records document personnel management policies and activities at Western Electric Company, circa 1920s to 1940s. Some of the Western Electric Co. materials concern the worker efficiency experiments, known as the Hawthorne Studies, that were staged at the company's Hawthorne Works between 1924 and 1933. There are also reports and policy documents created by the American Telephone and Telegraph Company, the parent of Western Electric Company, 1941-1947. Also included are two employee opinion surveys, apparently conducted by Herbert Carey during his years as a consultant.
