Saying he sent a copy of the initial private printing of his Vision of Don Roderick to her and promising to send a large-paper copy the following day, hoping it will be better for her weak eyes; discussing her ailment and offering advice, suggesting that she bathe the back of her neck with cold spring water and enclosing (not present) a receipt for Eye Lotion; referencing the recent death of Lord Melville and describing in detail his slow illness and sudden death; referencing the possibility that the recent death of his friend President Blair hastened his end; discussing Lord Melville's life and affairs; reporting that he has purchased a small farm on the banks of the Tweed.
