Saying that he had waited to send her The Lady of the Lake until "such a reasonable portion of it was printed as might give you some idea of the whole;" promising that the first two cantos will be sent to her soon, and hoping to solicit her and Lord Abercorn's opinions; referencing his possible trip to Ireland; discussing politics, mentioning that "the Pitt party who had so many reasons for sticking together are yielding up to personal animosity and internal feuds that the force of the enemy never could have wrenched from them;" hoping the flowers arrived safely; expressing uncertainty about whether he will be called to London that year.
