Journal of a voyage from Fort Vancouver, Columbia to York Factory, Hudson's Bay, 1841.

Handwritten diary kept by George T. Allan (George Traill, d. 1892) in 1841 on a trip from Fort Vancouver to Hudson's Bay. He left Fort Vancouver on March 22nd and describes the difficulty of the voyage. He describes stops in Walla Walla, Fort Colville, and Fort Spokane and along the Columbia. He mentions seeing Spokane Garry. He describes each place in good detail. They reached York Factory on July 4th. At the end of this journal, he also has a "List of Journals of Voyages &c by G. T. A." including journals from 1831-1847. Those journals are not present in this collection.

George Traill Allan, 1806-1892, was born in Creiff, Scotland, and came to Canada in 1830 as a clerk with the Hudson's Bay Company. The following year he was assigned to Fort Vancouver, where he served until 1841, when he was transferred to the Hawaiian Islands. He returned to Oregon via California, settling first in Oregon City, where he ran a mercantile business.
