"A Personal Narrative History of MTTB Squadron 15" by Stanley M. Barnes is an account of the squadron during its twenty months existence, 1942-1944, in WWII, in the Mediterranean area. The squadron was commanded part of the time by the Royal Navy and was in contact with the enemy almost continuously. Details relationships with the OSS, the Russians, Navy Department, British Coastal Forces, tells of engagements and encounters, the squadron's performance and lessons learned. Discusses PT program and decorations and medals policy.

Stanley M. Barnes, naval officer, graduated from the US Naval Academy in 1935. During World War II, he was CO of Patrol Torpedo Boat Squadron 15 in the Mediterranean Sea. Later, he commanded all PT boats in the US Eight Fleet in the Mediterranean, totaling 43 boats. Hewitt was a 1906 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy. He served in the European Theatre in WWII and was commander of amphibious invasions in North Africa, Sicily, Italy and Southern France.
