Thanking him for assisting Daniel Scott; saying that Leyden has finally sent a long letter, and giving his news; noting that the "Lay of the Last Minstrel" is ready for publication and mentioning people he would like to send a copy of the romance to; saying that he and Mrs. Scott are so fond of their farm at Reged that they are going to set out for it "in the middle of a snowstorm."
