Promising to send a "grand packet" with "Sir Tristem" and intending to send the same to Heber and Douce. Discussing the Edinburgh Review, noting that he is not regularly connected with the work, nor has he "either inclination or talents to use the critical scalping knife, unless as in the case of Godwin." Asking for a passage referring to Thomas (the Rhymer) in the French "Hornchild" and discussing his determination to prove that Thomas is the author of both "Sir Tristrem" and "Hornchild," but noting that he must first read that romance "before I can make my arrangements."
