Letter from George Wannemaker to his daughter detailing social and economic conditions in the Reconstruction South. The letter is addressed from Spontanburg County, South Carolina. Wannemaker also discusses family matters including death of his daughter Margaret and encourages his daughter Jane to be upright. Reply from Jane Henderson, his daughter, giving news of her family including the deaths and births of her children. She also describes the forming conditions for Texas freedmen.
