English Mercantile Doctrine, Manuscript, 1686.

A holograph manuscript outlining 17th century English mercantilist doctrine. The anonymous author attributes the decay of English trade and economic well-being to underpopulation, overproduction of agricultural products, competition with Ireland, New England, France, Holland and other continental countries, emigrating English artisans, the customs war and a lack of trade agreements.

Walter Hausdorfer began his library career as a student assistant in the Sullivan Library, Temple Univ. In 1925 he became the Assistant Librarian. After obtaining his library degree at Columbia, Hausdorfer directed the Columbia School of Business Library for 16 years. Between 1946 and 1963 Hausdorfer served as head librarian at Temple Univ. In 1986 Hausdorfer's life work, Accounting bibliography, was finally published. From the description of Papers, 1912-1969. (Temple University Lib...
