Jonas Heil served as a private in the National Guard of Pennsylvania in Captain John F. Schoener's Company C, 7th Regiment; he enrolled on 13 November 1875, and was discharged on 9 May 1876 at Mahanoy City, Pa., for physical disability. Charles C. McGovern (nicknamed Salty or Buck) was an influential military figure and politician in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. He was born March 6, 1873, in Pittsburgh's First Ward, the Golden Triangle area, to Charles and Alice Gannon McGovern. He attended Holy Ghost College, now known as Duquesne University.
