Clement Mario Silvestro (b. 1924) was a historian, author, and one-time director of the Chicago Historical Society. Silvestro received his Ph.D. in history from the University of Wisconsin in 1959. The Commission on Chicago Historical and Architectural Landmarks (later the Commission on Chicago Landmarks) was established in 1968 by City of Chicago ordinance.
