Born in Montana in 1924. Completed one year of college before being drafted in June of 1943. Went to basic training then went to Purdue for 3 months. Then took a second basic training before being trained as a mechanic. Transferred to the 10th Mountain Division at Camp Swift, Texas, and was assigned to Company D of the 126th Engineers. Philip A. Lunday was born in Billings, Mont. in 1924 and joined the Army in 1943. At the time of enlistment he was unmarried and had attended one year of college.
