Count Michael de la Bedoyere was born in St. Servan, France, on May 16, 1900, the only child of Count Yvon de la Bedoyere and Sybil Emily, daughter of Anthony W. Thorold, sometime Bishop of Winchester. He was educated at Stonyhurst College and Oxford University, from which he received his M.A. in 1928.
