Samuel V. Hoffman tax receipts, 1860-1866.

Receipted bills from the city of New York to Samuel Verplanck Hoffman for property taxes, assessments, and water fees, as well as a permit for opening a sewer. Additional receipts from Tiffany & Co. and Devlin and Co. are for the cleaning of a clock and the repair of some shutters, respectively.

It changed its name in 1853 when Charles Tiffany took control and established the firm's emphasis on jewelry. Samuel Verplanck Hoffman (1802-1880) was a lawyer and businessman who amassed considerable holdings in New York City real estate. He was the father of Rev.
