E.M. Royall papers, 1863-1865.

Military papers, including invoices for medicines and medical supplies, with related correspondence, orders, furlough papers, an Appomattox parole (10 Apr. 1865), a duty assignment (21 Oct. 1863) to Sullivan's Island and Mt. Pleasant, S.C., and a requisition (undated; probably 1863) for medical stores for Battery Pringle. Invoices include one (11 Feb. 1864) for a case of amputating instruments, issued to Asst. Surgeon P. Sidney Kirk "for the use of the Kings Artillery Battalion" (Longstreet's Corps). Orders dated 1 Apr. 1865 assign E.M. Royall to Haskell's Battalion. Furlough papers dated Sept. 1864 contain remarks by Chief Surgeon William M. Post, 1st Army Corps, about hardships in the Royall family and E.M. Royall's service. Postwar papers include passes (Apr. 1865) for E.M. Royall and three African Americans leaving Savannah, Ga., for Hilton Head, S.C., and oaths of allegiance (April and Sept. 1865) signed by E.M. Royall.
