Boston Public Schools desegregation-era records collection, 1952-1996 (bulk 1976-1985).

The collection documents efforts by the school department to comply with these court orders and is comprised of three record groups containing administrative, programmatic, and legal papers of Boston Public Schools. The Citywide Parents Council records (40 cubic ft., 1975-1993) relates to attempts to foster parental involvement in the Boston Public School system, monitor desegregation, and ensure accountability of each school within the system. The Office of General Counsel (currently known as Office of Legal Advisors) records (43 cubic ft., 1975-1998), reflect the mission of this office to provide quality legal services to the superintendent of schools and the Boston School Committee, including records of two cases: the Morgan desegregation case and the special education case of Allen vs. McDonough. Other persons and organizations represented include Edward McCormack, Jacob J.
