Papers respresenting Stern's work as rabbi of Congregation Ohef Shalom in Norfolk, Va., director of rabbinic placement for Reform Judaism for the Central Conference of American Rabbis, counselor for student field work and adjunct professor of Jewish history at the New York campus of Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion, and genealogist. Rabbinical associations series consists of correspondence, meeting notices, publicity, and publications concerning Stern's affiliation with the Central Conference of American Rabbis (CCAR) and the National Association of Retired Rabbis. Personal series consists of obituaries, memorials, and tributes sent to Mrs. Stern after Stern's death and memorabilia and awards won by Stern during his lifetime. Non-print materials series consists of cassette audio tape recordings and reel audio tape recordings of Central Conference of American Rabbis events, genealogical information, and holyday services and two microfilms, the first a copy of Stern's book, Americans of Jewish Descent (1960), annotated with revisions and corrections, second a genealogy of the families of Julius Oppenheimer and Jeanette Goldsmith of New York, N.Y., and Humphrey Davis and Beulah Woodworth of Hartford, Conn. Subjects include Norfolk integration.
