Correspondence, minutes, proposed by-laws, notices, leaflets, addresses, statements, scrapbook, resolutions, reports, clippings, transcipts of interviews, maps, charts, history interviews, and slides chiefly concerning the association's battle to stop the Tennessee Valley Authority, supported locally by businessmen of the Upper French Broad Economic Development Commission, from damming on fourteen tributaries of the Upper French Broad River in the interest of flood control, pollution control, and recreational development which the association contended would cripple or destroy six thriving communities, 600 homesteads, the ecology of forty miles of river band, and sequester 15,000 acres of prime crop land. Includes a pamphlet by Martha Gash Boswell entitled Grassrouts Along the Upper French Broad: the Valley People versus the Tennessee Valley Authority and material relating to North and South Mills River Community Development Club and Citizens and Taxpayers League of Transylvania County.
