George Pierson, the fifth of the ten children of Nancy Crane (1775-1841) and Dr. Isaac Pierson (1770-1833), was born on October 16, 1805 in Orange, New Jersey. He graduated from Princeton College (now University) in 1823 and became the pastor at the First Presbyterian Church of Orange and then the First Presbyterian Church of Wantage, New Jersey.
