The Claude M. Kicklighter oral history transcript consists of a 373 page transcribed oral history interview. In 1957 Kicklighter became aide-de-camp to Brigadier General John Berry. According to Kicklighter, they developed a close relationship. Kicklighter discusses his time as a professor with Wofford College's Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC). Kicklighter talks about his two tours in Vietnam. He discusses his efforts while on the Joint Chiefs of Staff to support South Vietnamese forces and describes a report on Vietnam and Cambodia in which he assisted. He also mentions the impact of Army life on his family, Operations Desert Shield and Storm, and his thoughts on the U.S. Army after his retirement.

Lieutenant General (LTG) Claude M. Kicklighter was born in Glenville, Georgia. He was commissioned into the U.S. Army through ROTC at Mercer University.
