Max H. Russell mission papers. 1933-1936.

Max H. Russell was a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in California from 1932 to 1934. The first folder contains the book compiled in 1934 by Russell and George Rytting concerning explanatory material for the use of the archaeological film-strip they worked on with pictures included. It also contains the correspondence between Russell and other church leaders regarding different utlizations of church materials as well as the Stenogrpahic Report of The Book of Mormon class, a program of the San Bernardino Branch and District Conference, and a bibliography of the Maya Area. The second folder contains the written interview conducted by David Whittaker to Max Russell primarily about his mission. It also contains the mission news, and the church document "Forgotten Empires: Before Columbus" by Gordon B. Hinckley. Most of the folder is correspondence regarding the use of the filmstrip in the mission to local church leaders. One of the main focuses of this collection is regarding the early visual aids used by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
