Max Hoover Russell was born on 8 March 1912 in Provo, Utah. Russell was a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the California Mission including parts of Arizona from 1932 to 1934. He helped research about archaeological findings in connection to The Book of Mormon to initiate more interest in the church at that time.
