Photocopies of letters (July 14 & Aug. 1, 1819) from W. C. Beard, commander of Fort Selden, to Gen. Thomas Jesup, chiefly concern Beard's activities as post quartermaster and the proposed establishment of a new post on the Sabine River. Letters (Feb. 4 & May 9, 1821) from Lieut. John Tucker at Fort Selden to Capt. James H. Hook in Washington, concern the unhealthy conditions at Fort Selden, the military disadvantages of Fort Selden and Camp Ripley, increasing emigration to Texas, and a duel at which Tucker acted as a second.
