Judge Zachary Taylor Fulmore (1846-1923) was born in Robeson County, North Carolina, to Zachariah and Sarah (Bethea) Fulmore. In 1864, he left his studies to fight for the Confederacy in the Civil War as a Private in Company D, First Battalion of the North Carolina Army.
