The Romanet papers consist of correspondence; notebooks and reports on the fur trade; original manuscripts of Kabluk of the Eskimo with their several revisions; photographs of Hudson's Bay Company employees, trading posts and stern wheel steamships, native population of Northern Canada and the Romanet Family. 1890s, 1900-1945. Included are papers relating to Romanet's career with Revillon Frères Trading Company, 1903-1916; Hudson's Bay Company, 1916-1930; North Star Oil Company, 1933-1938; Abasand Oils Ltd., 1937-1941 and Northwest Service Command, 1944.

L.A. Romanet (1880-1964) came to Canada from France in 1903. He joined the French fur trading company, Revillon Frères, and worked at the Ungava trading post in Quebec. In 1916 Romanet joint the Hudson's Bay Company as an inspector. By 1923, he had become district manager of the Athabasca and Mackenzie River Districts and general manager of the Alberta and Arctic Transportation Company.
