Romanet, Louis Auguste, 1880-1964
L.A. Romanet (1880-1964) came to Canada from France in 1903. He joined the French fur trading company, Revillon Frères, and worked at the Ungava trading post in Quebec. In 1916 Romanet joint the Hudson's Bay Company as an inspector. By 1923, he had become district manager of the Athabasca and Mackenzie River Districts and general manager of the Alberta and Arctic Transportation Company. After he left the Hudson's Bay Company in 1930, Louis Romanet was employed at various times as an agent for North Star Oil Company; for Abasand Oils Ltd., and as an inspector for the Northwest Service Command during World War II.
