Sketches by Conrad Fäsi-Gessner for his illustrated pamphlet protesting cruelty to animals and varied sketches of country people, hospital patients, animals, buildings, and vegetation, circa 1812-1859. Also included are a catalog of his personal library and art collection, probably kept until his death in 1870; a printed death announcement for his mother-in-law, Anna Lavater Gessner in 1852, and a mezzotint of his grandfather-in-law, Johann Caspar Lavater, created in Augsburg, Bavaria, in 1774.

Conrad Fäsi-Gessner (1796-1870) was an engraver and amateur painter. He served as director for Zurich Hospital and published an illustrated pamphlet, Bilder von Thierquälereien (translated, Pictures of animal tortures) (Zurich, 1859), which protested cruelty to animals.
