Charles Parkman Rockwood papers, 1939-1945 (inclusive).

Correspondence, clippings, photographs, and memorabilia document Charles P. Rockwood's service as a teacher for Yale-in-China at Yuanling, Hunan Province as well as life in wartime China, his struggle with poliomyelities in 1940, and his service with the U.S. Office of War Information in rural areas of India, Burma, and China, 1944-1945. A diary for the summer of 1939 describes a tour of the Yale Glee Club in Europe.

Plans for a Yale mission in China were first formulated in 1901.
