A Brooklyn, New York family descended from Evert Duyckinck of the Netherlands. The principal figure is Whitehead C. Duyckinck of the Yale University Class of 1865. Most of his papers consist of correspondence with former classmates on class matters. Also in the papers are legal and financial papers of the Duyckinck family (1736-1912), specifications for a house to be built on Clark Street in New York, a photograph of Evert A. Duyckinck, and assorted memorabilia.

White Cornell Duyckinck was born on October 23, 1843, in Brooklyn, New York. On both his father's and mother's side, he was descended from early seventeenth century immigrants. He graduated from Yale College in 1865 and entered a life of business in New York City, mainly focusing in storage, shipping, and imports. Between 1886 and 1891, he was forced to leave business, because of a sickness resulting from exhaustion. Between 1891 and 1914, he worked for Mutual Life Insurance Company in New York....
