Holograph manuscript report with corrections of a survey expedition by the Snake River Division of the U.S. Geological Survey expedition in 1872. The 120-page report contains descriptions of geological and geographical findings from the Survey camp at Ogden, Utah, to points along the Snake, Madison, and Yellowstone Rivers from May 24 to September 24, 1872. Names of expedition members mentioned in the report include Messrs. Adams, Stevenson, Taggart, and Hayden (F. V. Hayden, head of the Survey). A second incomplete manuscript copy of the report, with pages numbered 9-129 and as 239-359, contains editorial annotations. Accompanied by an envelope with the frank of J. E. Hilgard, Treasury Department, U.S. Coast Survey Office, which is addressed to Professor Frank H. Bradley, East Tennessee University, Knoxville, Tenn., and "Manuscript of Snake River Expedition Report" written in pencil in Bradley's hand.
