Eleanor E. Hunt autograph album, 1857-1916 (bulk 1857-1862)

The Eleanor E. Hunt autograph album belonged to Ohio resident Eleanor E. Hunt. The volume is an undated, commercially produced album issued by Moss & Brother of Philadelphia. The front free endpaper contains a presentation inscription: "Miss Ella Hunt, from a friend, January 1st, 1857, Morefield [sic], Clark C, Ohio." Most of the leaves of the volume (which are gathered in groups of yellow, white, pink, and blue) have been filled with signatures, inscriptions, poetry, and drawings from family, friends, and acquaintances, ranging in date from 1857-1872. The latest dated item is an inscription by Mary Tiers, in a child's handwriting, which addresses "Ella" as her aunt, although the bulk of the dated signatures are from 1857-1862. The album also includes three pencil sketches, as well as three items laid-in: a paper cutout figure; an undated sketch; and an envelope with a lock of hair (labeled "Rose bud's hair, Sept. 7, 1916").
