Russell A. Nielsen photograph albums, 1929-1936.

These albums document Nielsen's student years at Stanford University. Volume 1 contains black and white photoprints, 1929-1932, of the interiors of his dorm rooms in Encina, Branner, and Sequoia Halls; Lake Lagunita and its boathouse; Big Game and Bonfire of 1929; the El Tigre Eating Club; the foundry and the pouring of the class numeral; chemistry class; yard work at the Convalescent Home; Encina kitchens at dinner time; interior of the physics shop and the xray lab; and photos of himself and other students. Volume 2, 1933-34, contains a series of hand-colored photoprints of campus views including entrance gates, Quad roofs, Lake Lagunita and the boathouse, the golf course, and Roble Gym; other photographs include views of Yosemite, views of Fort Barry (Marin County, CA), and physics professors Paul H. Kirkpatrick and Felix Bloch. There are also several loose photographs, including the Bonfire of 1936 and a night-time view of haystacks burning on campus.
