Minnie Dubbs Millbrook research collection, circa 1864-1983.

The Minnie Dubbs Millbrook Collection contains correspondence, research notes, and other materials relating to the history of the American west, the frontier, and Indian Wars. These materials were collected, created, and used by Millbrook during her research. The files are organized by topic or name of correspondent. The bulk of the materials relate to General George A. Custer, including his military activities, marriage, family, political history, biographies, and horse named Don Juan. Other topics include Ness County, Fort Hays, Little Big Horn, the Kidder Massacre, and several biographies of soldiers fighting in the Indian Wars. Also included are court martial records of Orren A. Curtis and Charles R. Jennison, soldiers during the Bleeding Kansas border wars, as well as copies of The Kansas Historical Quarterly. The more recently dated records are primarily correspondence between Millbrook and colleagues, while the records dated to the 19th century are reproductions of originals.

Minnie Dubbs Millbrook was a Kansas author and historian interested in the history of the American west, the frontier, and the Indian Wars during the late 19th century.
