Skeeter Davis papers, 1949-ca.1979 1950-1959

Papers of country musician Skeeter Davis include correspondence, greeing cards, a ledger of royalties from 1965 to 1971, a brief journal from ca. 1979, and miscellaneous items. Much of the correspondence is from Davis's family and friends and relates to Davis's personal life as well as her music career. Other letters are from Davis's fans. The journal is primarily religious in nature. Davis was born Mary Frances Penick and many of the cards and letters are addressed to her under that name.

Skeeter Davis was a country musician performing for over fifty years, beginning in the early 1950s. Born Mary Frances Penick in Dry Ridge, Kentucky on December 30, 1931, Davis first performed as half of the duo, the Davis Sisters.
