Colin John Partridge fonds. [1958-2000].

The fonds consists of material relating to the production of his books, including correspondence, drafts and proofs. The fonds include Partridge's children's novel Thunderbird (1979), campus centred satirical short stories: Civil Distubances (2000) and Partridge's edition of the novel Will Warburton (1981), by George Gissing. There are also 2 letters from Hugh MacDiarmid (1958), and lecture notes from Dorothy Livesay.

Dorothy Livesay was born in Winnipeg. She taught at the University of Alberta from 1968 to 1971 and served as Visiting Professor at the University of Victoria from 1971 to 1974. Her volumes of poetry include "The Green Pitcher", "Day and Night", "Call My People Home", "The Unquiet Bed", "The Documentaries", and "Collected Poems: The Two Seasons". C. M. (Christopher Murray) Grieve [Hugh McDiarmid, 1892-1978] was a Scottish poet, writer, and cultural activist. Politically, he was both a nationalist, helping found the National Party of Scotland in 1928, and a communist. During the 1930's, he was expelled from each group for his membership in the other. Colin John Partridge, now retired, was born in England in 1935. He obtained a B.A. and a Ph.D. from the University of Nottingham and taught at the City of Coventry School (1959-1961) and as an assistant lecturer at the University of Manchester (1963) before being promoted to lecturer at Manchester.
