Diaries, 1784-1807, 4 vols. These contain brewery records, death notices of family and friends, references to the weather, and particular events, includning the building of the Library Company, ratification of the Constitution by New Hampshire (1788), references to the arrival of refugees from the West Indies, Quaker meetings attended, fires in the city, the yellow fever epidemic in the summer of 1797, the launching of the frigate "United States" (1797), and the death of George Washington (1799). A separate sheet, laid in, contains references to the retreat of Gen. John Burgoyne from Fort Schuyler, the plundering of lead from Philadelphia houses, and the Sons of Liberty (including Charles Wilson Peale). Other Thomas Morris items include a certificate for ten shares, a memorandum regarding the shares, and a report of the committee of accounts to the stockholders, all of the Schuylkill Permanent Bridge Company. A memorandum book of Thomas Shute, dated 1778, contains a testimony of the Philadelphia Monthly Meeting of the Society of Friends regarding the life and memory of Sarah Morris (1704-1775), a Quaker minister and daughter of Anthony and Elizabeth Morris, including her missions to England in 1772-1773.

Sarah Morris was a Quaker minister from Philadelphia. She was born on the 16th of 11th month 1703, O.S. (27 January 1704, N.S.) to Anthony and Elizabeth Morris of Philadelphia.
